Points of Unity

Here are the Twin Cities March Against Monsanto Points Of Unity. We ask all people involved in the march to agree to these points of unity to help ensure everyone at the march has a safe and fun time. Thank you!

Twin Cities March Against Monsanto is committed to non-violent action that raises awareness about corporate control of our food system, the environmental and health impacts of our food system, and alternative ways to grow food and feed our population.
- All participants and organizers are dedicated to developing and maintaining a safe, peaceful event that promotes food system knowledge and long-term commitments to the food movement.
The committee and attendees of the march and rally agree to create a compassionate and supportive environment for all participants in the march and rally, the food activist community, and the general activist community.
- If an attendee or organizer finds themselves under stress or in a crisis situation during the planning of or participation in the March Against Monsanto, he/she will do his/her best to maintain and spread calm, treat everyone with respect, and work with kindness and compassion to resolve the situation. It is OK and encouraged to ask for help from other organizers or attendees to help remedy a situation.
March attendees and organizers will communicate openly, honestly, and respectfully, and work to develop an understanding of the perspectives, skill, limitations, and needs, each person brings to our work.
- We will strive to be respectful listeners, regardless of the message being delivered or your relationship with the messenger, and respond in a respectful and courteous manner.
Twin Cities March Against Monsanto Planning Committee is a volunteer, transparent, and horizontal organization.
- Nobody is more important, has more power, authority, or rights than any other member of the committee. We will strive to make all decisions using the consensus model.
- All attendees, speakers, and others invested in the success of the event are welcome to attend planning committee meetings, present their ideas and concerns and we will work together to build a better march. Meetings are approximately every 2 weeks.
- We will provide transparent details relating to the necessary expenditures for the event and donated funds.
- Members of the organizing committee will provide all documentation pertaining to their responsibilities in coordination of the event. This can include, but is not limited to, notarizations, bills, receipts, permits, authorizations, tickets, articles, etc…
We as a group stand strongly against any racism, sexism, ageism, antisemitism, or any other type of oppression. We will be aware of issues of oppression and vulnerability, and how they impact our relationships with other attendees, organizers, the activist community, and all we associate with in relation to this event.
We have zero tolerance for physical, emotional or sexual assault and harassment. If we observe assault or harassment of any kind, we will address the situation directly or find an authority as quickly as possible.
Everyone will be sensitive to issues of oppression and diversity.

Violation of this agreement, on the Facebook Event Page or at the Twin Cities March Against Monsanto can result in the deletion of comments, expulsion from the event page, or expulsion from the event. If we see people behaving in a non-peaceful manner at the event, we will notify the badged authorities, i.e., Police.

MN March Against Monsanto PLANNING MEETING #1

The first Planning Meeting is set for Sunday, November 24th at 1pm at Modern Times Cafe located at 3200 Chicago Avenue South, in Minneapolis, MN. They will be regular after that, approximately every 2 weeks.

The Planning Meetings are free and open to the public - Everyone is encouraged to join us!
